Getting barefoot and grounding with the earth helps balance mental and physical energy by taking you out of stress by harmonising body, mind and spirit with earth resonance.

In these current times a daily grounding practice is incredibly important for your over all general health and well-being physically, mentally and spiritually.
Here is a powerful Mindfulness Wellness Exercise I take people through on our Vibrant Living Wellness Retreats in Hanmer Springs, NZ.
This will be very helpful for anyone challenged with anxiety, digestive issues, low immunity and inflammation diseases. However it really is for everyone that would like to feel more at peace, trust and in flow by harmonising with with life's naturally rhythms.
Step 1. Take yourself into nature, it can be your garden or a forest walk. Somewhere you can get barefooted and feel your feet on the earth 🌍. Feel the texture of the grass or pebbles under your feet.
Step2. Then take a few deep breaths and enjoy a gentle barefoot walk with breath awareness.
Step 3. Sit by a tree for awhile. Open to the gentle wisdom and presence of nature and notice how the trees have a deep rooted connection to the earth. Use your imagination ( right hemisphere of the brain 🧠) to Imagine you also have a root system going deep into the earth in all direction out of your feet. If you find imagination difficult then just pretend or intend it and have fun with it.
Step 4. After a few minutes sitting by the tree trunk begin to walk again but this time as if you are like a tree with deep roots into the earth.
Step 5. Now that you are feeling grounding and rooted deeply into the earth , it is time to become aware of the other elements of nature . Feel the temperature of the wind on your skin and then the sun or warmth on your skin. Begin to now notice how like a tree or plant it rises from the earth and opens to the sun and the sky. Feel yourself grounded into the earth and rising upwards to the sky creating length and openness in your body and spine.
Step 6. Slide your shoulders back and notice around you all the many different shapes and colours in nature’s; in the trees 🌳 and the plants 🌱 and the small grasses and flowers 🌷 . If you feel comfortable open your arms wide and reach up into the sky for 30 seconds. Notice how this changes your mood and you feel more calm, relaxed and joyful.
Step 7. Continue to Breathe in with curiosity and wonder on your connection to this nature all around you and how you are breathing the air in through your nose that goes into your lungs that then passes it to your heart. There the heart pumps it through the red blood cells which move through out your blood stream to reach into trillions of cells.
*** This element of air and ether is what is permeating every cell in your body with oxygen and lifeforce chi energy and maintaining your life vitality. Without breath for just a few minutes there is no life in the body. The exhale also releases the deoxygenated breath and toxins which the plants and trees renew back into fresh oxygen 🌳🌱💓
Step 8. Allow yourself to be gently reminded of your inherent connection and inter-relationship with these elements of air, ether, earth, sun and water ( water represented by the flow of blood in the body which is 70% , 80% or even 90% water so science tells us these days )
Step 9 : Feel the natural ‘attitude of gratitude’ bubble up from within you for the precious gift of life this day and decide this is a my good day. Thank you life 🙏 . Breathe in the love and support all around you and breath out gratitude.
Repeat daily or as often as possible. Requires 10-15 mins.
I trust you find this practice helpful. However like any wellness practices you will have to put it into actual practice. Reading about it does not translate into an embodied real time experience. So do yourself a favour and put your phone aside for a few minutes and give it a real go. 😉
Transform theory into experience !
Make a deal with yourself to try it out for one week practicing it daily. Then don’t do it for the next week. Keep a journal 📔 and note what is different about each week. Notice if when you did this grounding practice if you felt more calm and relaxed and confident to go about your day with a greater ease, confidence, clarity and felt more in the flow ?
Then decide if it is a keeper or not ? If it is then choose to commit to integrate the practice into you and your families daily life with regular time barefoot in nature.
There is good reason children love to be barefoot in nature. Now you know why you should join them ! ! !
